The Bio….

This is where I’m “supposed to” include a list of accolades, achievements, boards I serve on, non-profit volunteering hours, and courtroom wins that will convince you that what I have to say here is worth your time.

Instead, what if I told you the truth?

I am, simply, an attorney, practicing law on a daily basis, who has seen how practicing law more inclusively helps me win and brings greater joy to the work.

  • Yes, I’ve been practicing law for over a decade in the US, litigated almost a thousand cases, and won and lost at trial.

  • Yes, I’ve managed attorneys, trained many, and mentored even more.

  • Yes, I’ve facilitated national conversations on race, gender, and allyship across the US and led a 500+ person intersectional women’s Employee Resource Group at a Fortune 100 company.

  • Yes, I’ve spoken about DEI topics in many professional settings, including a national conference.

But I will never claim to be an “expert” in this work. That would be the exact opposite of the point!

The point is I’m just like you.

As an attorney, I want to do my very best for my clients and customers. I’m interested in winning with integrity and I want to enjoy the work I do.

I learned early on that engaging in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion training (DEI) gave me a competitive advantage. Since then I’ve seen it improve my collaboration with my peers and bring me greater joy in my practice.

I also want to be a positive force for change within the legal profession. So instead of waiting for the legal profession to be more inclusive, diverse, and equitable, I seek to be the change myself.

The Inclusive Attorney is my love letter to people like me who understand that bringing DEI to life in the practice of law is not only the right thing to do but will help us all win.

So I invite you to read the articles and watch the videos here. Subscribe to the quarterly newsletter. Share this website with others and share with me what you’re learning. Remember I’m “in the work” each day and I am always looking for new ideas.

Ultimately, take what helps you and leave the rest.

In the end, my hope is that you can find inspiration, direction, and practical tools to help you practice law more inclusively today.
